The Cambelt on my Mondeo was 9000miles overdue. When I got it changed I didn't know anything much about motors so paid for it to be done.
When the mechanic took the idler off it fel in to two bits
Also the tensioner was riddled with cracks from the centre to about 2mm from the edge!
He said I am the luckiest man in Bristol to still have an engine!
