A server running server 2003 has been experiencing problems all morning.
The CPU usage is hitting 100% most of the time but it is not a particular program/process hogging it all.
The server is not the fastest of machines we have but it normally plods along happy enough.
No updates have been installed over the weekend, and the virus scanner has not reported any thing.
killing random processes can get the cpu to spike up and down rather than stay constant at 100%.
It has been pulled from the network while we try to sort the problem, one we get the CPU graph spiking and then plug the network back in the CPU will again spike at 100% and stay there.
Any one have any ideas of what to look at or what might cause this?
I will not list everything we have tried as to be honest i can not remember everything off the top of my head,
But any ideas would be gratefully received.
