Don't know if anyone can help but I'm having a big problem with the sound on my laptop with Server 2k3.

I've downloaded some drivers from VIA for my Fujitsu Amilo Li 1705 laptop, they install ok. But when I restart the laptop, I get sound once I've logged in. But if I try the volume on the task bar, the beeps you hear when you move the slider get quieter and quieter until eventually I hear nothing (Even if I move the slider to max volume)

I've tried the VIA drivers, and I tried the Windows drivers from the Windows Update tool. Both did the same, can any help?
I'm really loosing my temper with it slowly. Sound isn't an issue really, but it would be best to have it installed

Try setting the sound acceleration to max. It's turned down by default in 2003 server.
Start>Run>dxdiag. Look on the sound page.

Went into the sound properties for windows first, the acceleration setting in there was on minimum so i turned that up to max and applied.
I have now just checked dxdiag. The setting is already on max, so I used the Test Directsound function an I heard the sounds.

I've just restarted, and heard the Windows start up sound....but again, doing the volume slider thing again as a test. the sound disappears

Just for reference I have VIA High Definition Audio on my laptop (displayed in the Device Manager)
But in my speakers screen, the sound playback is HD Audio rear output

Is this right?
