Currently were I work we have massive problems with customers who's computers simples must be formatted due to whatever reason up on asking them everything is in my documents. So you format new os, drivers, programs take there computer back only to recieve a phone call 30 minutes later. WERE'S THIS WERE'S THAT. :o

Was just wondering is it possible to make a desktop or server that will automaticly ghost or back-up anything plugged in the network and keep a copy until it needs overwriting for a new machine?

Sorry forgot to mention has to be pritty cheap really best bet mannually ghosting drives?

Um, you should give them a form asking were everything is stored thats important, family photos, etc

Then back them up to a usb hard disk or to a server networked, format and whatever and then place the backed up files on the desktop for them.

However if I was giving my computer into someone I'd make damn sure everything I want was on DVDR first anyway.

Personally an external 500GB drive should do, make a folder per customer and keep it there untill there machine is sorted and the personal information is not needed.

You COULD just back thier WHOLE machine to the hard disk or DVDR any trouble it can all be reverted.
