Server whirring even without fans

cable should be fine in the door. at one point i had about 2 HDMI, 2 ethernet and some audio cables all going out my door, while normally they would sit under the door so wouldn't be too squashed, often they would get bundled up and compressed between door and frame. THey didn't have a problem in the time I had them there.

I actually shaved a little off of a door at my old place so I could fit a bunch of cables underneath but I can't really be bothered to do that now. The gap under my current kitchen door isn't very big, annoyingly, and although I could fit an Ethernet cable underneath it, it was very snug and didn't feel very safe from fraying.

The cable would need to be 15 m if I route it around the door frame and to the opposite end of my lounge (I have one of these already). However, I suppose I could try a flat Ethernet cable, which'd fit under the door fine and then be routeable under the carpet, meaning it wouldn't need to be as long.

flat cables are great :D
But, if you are spending money, I would jsut spend the money on the components (PSU, case) in order to eliminate the problem rather than hide it in a cupboard.

Although a cable is much cheaper I suppose :)

I'd rather the server be out of the way anyway to be honest - it has always been in a cupboard since I've bought it, except for the last few weeks.
