So I was in the middle of backing up my laptop this morning when I get a backup failed notification from windows server 2012.
I duly check the server, the hdd light is on but no noise or flickering. I reset it, and it powers up for a few seconds, then powers down again.
So far I've disconnected all hdd and DVD drive data and power cables. All fans disconnected. PSU substituted for a known good one. Ram re mounted, and moved slots. Graphics card remounted. Still the same.
I plugged a monitor in to see if there was any info on the screen, but it stays in standby mode.
The cup fan spins up. I've also removed gfx card (no onboard gfx) and still the same.
So, what's it likely to be? Gfx card, cpu, memory or motherboard......? Still in warranty for all apart from gfx card which is fairly old!
