SETI@home News Vol. 121 (30/01/2011)

Sounds good!
My plans have chopped n changed like coalition policies but so far..
1 sr2 wc and gpu's dependant on what rears it's head by the end of feb and wc the r3, even though the 2 mobo trays are sr2 they're backward compatable so if i have a windfall along the line i could change it.
Still undecided on the ssd's but probably 2 100gb corsairs and might have to resort to external storage for a lot of stuff as i am going to be pushed for space with only the equivalent of 4 drives for both systems.
Am enjoying it for the most part but boy is the output suffering, and now ati gpu's are compatable for mb i can see Mr Baba and Mr Halz sailing past in a few weeks...
Oh and add a trade size pack of lube for when that happens :D

Hmmm.....

I had noticed the ATI support - what were they thinking?

Oh well, depending on performance, it may give us a few more options when it comes time to choose GPU's and choice is always a good thing for reducing prices :D

For the time being - I'm gonna clean out my cache of Climate Prediction (bout 10 days worth) and revert to Folding on the cpu's - should be reasonable output with the i7 860 & i7 930.

Thanks for the news TT and thanks for the use of the cell, albeit brief as Marine Iguana promptly booted me out again.

Got this though.......

Also a parp to Soulfire, Marine Iguana will shortly overwhelm you and I'll be on his tail to also stomp you within the week. ;)

Will be the last one for a bit :( , will be coasting on pending for a while.
I think I have just enough pending to take me upto 19,000,000 - with a bit of luck.

Congrats to all the Tiffy peeps :)

Nice one indeed Mr Halz sah, brilliant achievement. Blimey with me coasting on pending yourself and Mr Loudbob i wonder what the news will look like next week
Nice to see a lot of movement in the stats mind, thats allways encouraging.
Has anyone noticed how Mr Reaver has been on the quiet of late? he's upto no good i smell it from 'ere ;):)

The news will look different next time as I'm currently not running SETI either... am concentrating on Rosetta for the time being (and folding on me GPU, although it's noisier when folding as opposed to running BOINC projects so that may not last particularly long).

Any joy yet Mr Marine?

Its late and i'm tired but still thinking which i know is dangerous but.....i know i've seen a pic of one of you guys with a waterchiller a Hailea, care to raise your hand and answer a few questions?
Would be much appreciated Cheers :)

A ha thank you for that Mr dekez was just going to ask a few basics about tubing etc as i cant get reg wc in the case....ta muchly :)

**Edit** withdrawal symptoms have set in, i must be crunching soon i cannae wait much longer captain :)

Pity you can't fit the water cooling in, I was looking at the pictures trying to work out a way, the only other thing I could think of would be to mod the roof or the floor and put them in there, but it's hard to say how it would look.

Nah nothing so interesting i've been trying to avoid talk of the SB upgrade fever :(. I am (no really i am must resist must resist ) going to resist temptation until at least Bulldozer and hopefully Ivy before i make any alterations to the rigs. If only the Q6600 would stop BSODing every 3-4 days at anything other than stock

[conspiracy nut job] I'm convinced its an intel kill switch in the chip as it was as solid as a rock until literally the day before SB was available to buy.[/conspiracy nut job]

I've got a XSPC Bayres & pump combo if you wanna borrow it.

Thanks for the offer but thinking about going back to air cooling :(

Been a rough week for everything not a happy bunny right now :(

Edit: Using 0.5% of my CPU to power the GPU's I'll carry on somehow :p
