Morning Mr Loudbob sah :)

Yeah cracking output you have going on there, depending on the price point of kepler i cant see cards coming down that much in price, have consulted the tea leaves and so far they are saying .... Kepler on the shelves april 1st-3rd gtx 670 £399 gtx 680 £479 there's going to be a whole lot of price gouging but we may be getting a cracking card with even better efficiency than the 5 series we shall see :)

At the minute i think i can get 3 need to sell some bits n bobs such as an arm/leg you know the usual.
I think the problem is the mark up retailers charge, dont get me wrong i know buisness works that way but given the buy in price for 7970 was around £345 and the 7950 around £255 its the retailer who is prepared to stick with a lower mark up that will win the hearts n wallets with this release.
Either way i am looking forward to getting back to some serious crunching Mr Reaver is pulling away at a rate of knots and i intend to catch him up :)

Afternoon Iamtidal :)

Welcome to the madhouse, any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated if you get stuck on anything or need help just post in the news thread and someone will be along to answer. Theres a wealth of knowledge floating around here and most are glad to help :)

Hiya Colin :)

You can leave the sli bridge on if you game and what not but when you are running seti you would need to disable sli in the nvidia panel :)

Blimey!!

When i had sli enabled it had a hissy fit with mine and the advice i got was to disable the sli it would definately have an effect on performance in boinc
.... of course i stand open to correction but am 99 percent sure :)

I would certainly say disable sli if you are going to leave the bridge in place most people would agree with that i thinks .... cmon guys back me up :D

Good grief nah i am ok with 3 pin plugs thats where my electrical knowledge ends, so after you have the shows out of the way are you going to sell your gpus and get something cheaper to run and rejoin the rat race? :)

I'll join back at some point, Life is getting in the way at the moment stupid thing. :D

I say thats a dashed inconvenient this life thingummywhatsit whats that all about then ... overrated :)

Mornin' :D

cpartcert1.php

Blimey were running out of adjectives and wordythings your just getting way to fond of these tiffys all the same damned good show sah!! :D

**Edit** makes mental note to ones self "must inform Mr Reaver his long lazy night shifts and unobstructed path to the top is going to come under attack" yeah that ought to scare the living Horlicks out of him TBag Fights Back :D

Your welcome Mr BaBa sah :)

Good to "see" you hows things going? Are you getting some good output from the 7970 yet that would be interesting to know :)

I had saved me pennies and sold on some stuff expecting to go all out on Kepler but as price "hints" and the like seem to be heading northward i caved and got a 3930k x79 mobo and some new memory. The sr-2 is on the backburner for another month or 2 and am bitterly dissapointed the new sr-x can only do locked down xeons at present ..... or if you felt like giving it a try apparently it will run 1 sandybridge -E wheres the sense in that i ask  :D
So i might take advantage of a full house of those rather cheap gtx 480's which should see my output head on up again .... now i know they are refference design a few blocks and bosh i will set my sights on Mr Reaver for starters ;):D

Rotten blinking week :)

Started out last thursday with a nice shiny new rampage 4 extreme and 3930k et memory etc.

My first TBag moment was realising i did not have the 2011 hf adapter kit, problemo solved ordered one day for a few squid and received the next for £14 .... bargain :)

Set about putting it all together and what do you know .... a certain someone who shall remain nameless sent me the wrong kit :mad: Blood pressure started building.

In a rare moment of genius i remembered where i could get a few washers and the like to bridge the space on cpu block ...... goes tearing into dark dungin for ages old vhs recorder and whips out the mounting mechanism ta daaaa it worked a treat :D

Hooked up the gubbins had windows disk in the drive and i knew the r4 would set it to ahci by default so no need to go messing with the bios just yet. Windows installed fine and was doing updates which i thought might cure the only 8gb of 16gb ram visible. Restarted press delete to enter bios nad ... no way ... arrrrrrghhh bashed an xbox ranted for a few minutes and just kept trying but alas no luck whatsoever something creepy had happenned to the bios.

Boxed it all up courier picked it up tuesday morning the supplier received it back yesterday and am sat waiting on a king size refund to hit me paypal.
Now normally it wouldnt have bothered me but i went back to what Mr Area51 had said about "getting of ones arse" and i thought dammit man i do!!!! everything i have done has been geared towards seti, ok a few guilty pleasures of late and an abyssmal output but that will change.

So a long awkward week and unless someone would like to do the news this week i am really not upto it chaps, normal service will be resumed next week if i haven't been sent to coventry etc. :(

Which leaves me with old faithfull Rampage 3 extreme and an i7 920 someone was kind enough to sell me because i begged :o.

Do i keep ye old faithfull and feast on kepler or what? I really aint fussed either way so will leave it upto you guys to decide ..... am gonna do nowt all weekend except peddle me last few bits n pieces and drink lots of coffee.

Thanks for understanding chaps .... i'm scared to even look at the new gpus :D

Welcome back Tony. I was browing the 680s earlier and I'm sure four of them had your name on :D

Damnit man they even have a twinpack for sale .... wanting badly in next few days i will have decided i want to start next week with some definate plans have emailed you Dave :)

Damn, sounds like you've had a frustrating time of late Toxic :

I'll do the news for you tomorrow once I get back from my job induction :)

:D Evening TT yeah grrrrr week, thats good of you to offer to do the news sah :) The right honourable Mr Derv has also offered to dip his toe into the wonders of excel so if you chaps want to sort something between you then i am off for me hot chocolate and 316th viewing of "Debbie does Darlington" no just kidding actually Contact with Ms Foster

:D Very interested to hear your thoughts on the new 680's you lucky so and so's though i will probably take the plunge this weekend it would be good to see some results first ..... gets coffee and makes meself comfortable in anticipation :D

I could do with three.......

gtx680.jpg

:eek:Wow nice purchase Mr Loudbob sah!! i know your a buisy chap but any conclusions/observations on the performance would be appreciated :D

My results may take some time, I'm doing a three way test

GTX580 3GB
HD7970 3GB
GTX680 2GB

Thanks for doing these tests Mr Biffa sah it will help me decide on what gpu route to take this weekend awaiting your results with baited breath :D

Cheers for that S :)

It looks promising output wise hmmmm am just sat waiting on a refund for last weeks project from hell and i will be ordering, it'll be good to get cracking again Cheers :)
