Setting second-curtain mode on a 550ex.. Nightmare.

I've looked everywhere, but i really cannot get it to work, im really going to scream.

Any ideas?

P.s- the flash is on manual, and the camera, and its set under custom options!

You hold in the '+' and the '-' buttons together for 2 seconds until the second curtain symbol comes up on the LCD, jobs a goodun'

whats the shutter speed your trying,, i think youll find its only under 1/30th or slower it will work.

Weird, that's how you do it on the 540EZ - the 550EX even has the icon underneath the buttons..

Try this;

Second-curtain sync with the 550EX is set on the flash itself whether it's used with the 40D or any other EOS camera. To set it up, press the + and - buttons on the back of the 550EX twice simultaneously. Look for the second-curtain sync icon in the upper right corner of the 550EX's LCD panel.

Unless this applies:

Second curtain flash is only available when when a 550EX is attached via hotshoe connector, and not in Master or Slave mode.
