setting up 770gtx (psu question)

Recently got a 770gtx (Palit 2gb), and I have currently got it set up as follows:
Two 6pin connectors and the small connector (2 pin connector?) I have basically covered up all the holes (the gpu came with a single 6 pin connector into 2x 6 pin connector cable, should I use this instead? I just don't want to fill my case with unnecessary wires)
I'm just wondering if I've set it up correctly? I mean the gpu is running fine, but I can't remember using the small 2 pin connector when I set up my brothers msi 770 last year.

Anyway I hope this isn't too confusing, I'm just trying to get a better understanding on powering gpus.
 
Okay thanks! Atm I have 2x 6 pin from the same psu cable connected. And yea, The splitter that came with the gpu looks dodgy lol
 
Ok thanks everyone for the complete answers! It's running fine atm, and from what you guys have said it seems I have it set up correctly, even if I overclock it :D
