setting up a dhcp server

i have the server set to 192.168.1.60 for nic 1 and router set to 192.168.1.1
when i try to connect a client to the server for an ip it comes up with 0.0.0.0. invalid ip
i have another nic card in the server what do i do with it?

Have you tried 602pro Lan Suite? Linky Linky

The 5 user version is free :D

This package contains a whole host (excuse the pun) of Lan services....DHCP, POP3, SMTP, FTP, WWW, PROXY, SOCKS5...the list goes on.

I had this set up on a small rig a few months ago:
Internet -> Modem -> Server -> Router -> Lan

NIC1 in the server was DHCP from the Modem. NIC2 was static 192.168.0.1 DHCP was disabled on the router.
Have a look at this package, you only need a standard windows desktop install to run it, nothing fancy. I found it really easy to use, iirc it sets up everything for you!

602lansuite is good, it allows me to proxy all traffic sent from my network with ease. All i need to do now is figure out how to get the dhcp server configured properly

What did you want ISA to do exactly, did you want it for the proxy (sharing internet) or for the enterprise level firewall and security features?

Have you given up on the MS DHCP server now?

i wanted to run all connections to the internet through the server and use it to assign ips to the other pc in the network, basically am just using server for a file storage and wanted to do more with it
i have not given up on dhcp yet. but for now i have just assigned static ips pointing to the router and using the proxy in ie to point to servers ip
i still would like to figure out dhcp soon though

thanks for your help, i finally got everything to work fine, all ecept the fact that my xbox will not look for a gateway other than my router, but that is another matter
