Setting up a wireless network

Hi guys I was wondering if you could share some knowledge with me, at current I have a wireless router connected to my main PC and my external Modem I also have a wireless labtop, at the moment I can access the internet wireless with my laptop but the question is how do I set up the PC and labtop to view and share files between each other, as if they were both networked ?

Hi there.

1. Firewall off or allow port (TCP 139, TCP 445, UDP 137, UDP 138) on both machines.

2. enable netbios over TCP/IP on your lan connection (Control panel, network connections, right click connection, properties, TCP/IP, advanced, wins, enable)

2. Share a folder (right click, properties, sharing, share)

3. Find out the ip address of the machine you want to access (start > run > type cmd > press enter > type ipconfig /all > press enter) or access it via my network places.

4. If IP way, then go to start > run > type in \\[ipaddress]\[sharename].

Bare in mind you have "Windows XP SP2"

2. enable netbios over TCP/IP on your lan connection (Control panel, network connections, right click connection, properties, TCP/IP, advanced, wins, enable)

4. it is just a way to connect to a machine remotly via a active share. Can't explain this much. Sorry.

Would also greatly help if you set everything up as static, last thing you want is DHCP giving out random IP addresses
