Hay all.

I bought yesterday my H70 Cooler and 4GB of Corsair XMS2 1066 DDR2 Ram.

Iv fitted the H70 and its running sweet (i did fit the lower RPM converter:rolleyes: as i use the PC for TV and films)

How ever im getting an issue with running the Ram above 800MGz.

I have the Gigabyte EP43-DS3 motherboard which is capable of having the RAM at 1200MGz+ SO the board isnt an issue.

What happens when i set the speed to the correct 1066 from the 800 it triple boots and goes into the factory settings.
I have even tryed running it at around the 900 area and still doesnt work...
I have set the timmings correctly at 5-5-5-15.

EDIT:Set the Voltage to 2.10

Can anyone shed light on the subject? As soon as i sort this issue i can clock the cpu a lil higher.

Thanks
Paul

sorry guys edited... i ment the voltage is at 2.10.

Yes 5-5-5-15 is whats on the sticks

The recomended volatage is 2.10 - 2.30

Have tryed at 2.30 and i get the same...

im in the same boat as OP, although im running Geil black dragons 1066, but my mobo (790fx msi platinum k9a2) is clocking them at 800 with 1.8v.
OP are your rams at 1.8v when they are at 800mhz? if they are, afaik it could be the mobo downclockin them.

SOLVED!!

Thanks for all the comments. The problem was a simlpe after all these weeks of me trying to sort it.

A BIOS update... thats all it was! Anyone with GIGABYTE Mobos like me make sure you get the bios up date for your model but not the latest as it totaly messed my board up but i managed to sort it!!

Just my mobo wont go over 3.50GHz on my intel Q9550... Not a bad overclock really..

Thanks again
Paul
