Setting up new external?

Ive got a new Samsung 500GB and an Icybox to connect to my PC and laptop.

I have Ubuntu on my PC and WinXP on the laptop. Whats the best way to set up the external drive,as in which program to format and what filesystem should I use? Thanks.

just plug in the external hard drive to your laptop.

right click MY COMPUTER icon and select MANAGE then select DISK MANAGEMENT

you should see new unformatted disk. right click on it then format as NTFS partition.
