Hey, was wondering if you guys could give me advice on this.

So I got a free 250GB Apex OCZ SSD Drive and I plan on using it as my OS + App drive.

I believe it has firmware on it but obviously it is probably not up to date.

The drive is installed and everything but windows isn't seeing it, is this normal? Should I just move straight on to installing windows onto the drive or should I definately be updating firmware?

If the second, How would I go about this? I've never done anything like this so I apologize if this is an utterly stupid questions :)

Sorry, just re-read your post, if you go to Start, right click on 'My Computer', select 'Manage', then choose 'Disk Management' under 'Storage'. You should be able to see the OCZ drive there, but you may have to right click on it and format it. This should make it viewable in windows.

To update the firmware follow this

I'd go ahead an update the firmware first. If it's a new drive you should then be good to go to install Windows, if it's used then run sanitary erase first (on the OCZ forums), then install Windows.

Unless you're prepared for hassle setting it up to avoid stutter, i'd flog it and buy a 160GB intel with the money.

Nah it isn't showing up in disk management either, weird. I haven't checked bios or anything to see if it shows up there tho.

I've noticed a few people talking about stuttering with these drives, is it really that bad? I wouldn't know where to sell it and for what price, and considering I got it for free I figured it would be a huge upgrade on a regular 1TB drive anyways regardless of stutter.
