Hello there I'm after a bit of guidance if possible

I am trying to setting up Raid 0 on said motherboard, on the intel ich7r chipset side of it.

Just a quick question to start off with, when I create the array in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager ROM (pressing ctrl+I on post) it gives me the options to set up the array.

I can grasp all of the options bar capacity. It says the maximum capacity for this raid 0 array is 596.2 GB which has confused me. I am using two seagate 320gig drives so surely the maximum should be around about the 320 mark.

Should I just lower the capacity to the size a single drive then will it stripe fully accross both drives?

Thanks for your help

ah ha, that makes sense. D'oh silly me.

Now has anyone managed to install a raid array on said motherboard without a floppy drive?

I managed to get the drivers to install in the f6 jobby with a usb key, but then when I create partition and format, it has picked up the usb key as drive and assigned it a letter. So when it prompts be for the "Intel Matrix Drivers" again from a drive there is nothing there.

Very Frustrating

Thanks for the quick reply =)

I use a sp2 xp disc anyway.

I remember making a slipstreamed xp disc ages ago and found it very time consuming. I'm thinking it may just be easier to nip down the road and get a new floppy drive

I am having a play now, me being lazy and cba to go get a floppy has won out. Plus a disc with drivers will help again next time me thinks.

Thanks very much for your help

Another very simple question, so if the raid drivers are slipstreamed into installation, I wont have to use the f6 prompt at all during install?

Well looks like all has worked! Thanks for your help !

Just wish I had asked yesterday instead of friggin about for hours and getting nowhere.

Thanks again
Kris

I did try that originally but I thought I had done it wrong when it kept giving me the combined volume of the drives. For some reason I had it stuck in my head that you only got the volume of one drive in raid0.

I have it working on the intel chipset now and works a treat :)
