I have as my main drive a 36gb Raptor and as a storage drive a 250 gb Seagate, split into 2. I have just bought 2 250gb seagates and am wanting to set them up in a mirrored raid setup for my main drive, thus allowing me to remove the raptor. I am then going to, when funds allow buy 2 more drives and mirror my storage.

What's the easiest way of doing this???

Mainboard is a DFI SLI-DR, do you need to know anymore?

regards,

Matt

Im confused, you have 1 x 250 with storage atm and 1 x 36

OS 1 x 36
Stor 250

and you're going to

OS 2 x 250 RAID1
Stor 250
removing the 36

But then after you said you'd buy another 2 250's for your stor to mirror your stor? so

OS 2 x 250 RAID1
Stor 3 x 250 RAID1?

But surely you'd want Striping (RAID0) for OS with 2 x 250gb
and for storage, just 1 more drive and in Mirroring (RAID1)? :)

Erncilator,

Just doing it for data security purposes - with how cheap hard disks are.

What I am planning on doing is replacing the 36gb drive with the 2 new Seagate drives that are mirrored.

At a later date I am planning to buy 2 more drives, may or may not be 250gb drives and replacing the existing single 250gb drive with the 2 new 250gb drives again mirrored.

This machine is my main machine - am in process of building second machine for playing/killing hence the 36gb raptor will form the benching drive on this and the 250 gb drive will be there as a backup/restore drive.

Does that make sense now?

regards,

Matt
