*note* tried this a month ago in the mobile section but didn't get any help at all, i guess it crosses over both forums really, so i thought i'd try here too. I've also tried IPMart-forums since they generally know what they're on about but nothing seem to come of that either. Last bit of effort from me, annoying as hell... */note*

Background:
Phone i own is a Nokia E60, I'm at university, and i'm trying to make wireless play nice with our secure wi-fi hotspots.

A wpa-supplicant.conf returns:
Code:
ap_scan=2
network={
ssid=”central-wpa”
auth_alg=OPEN
key_mgmt=WPA_EAP
proto=WPA
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP
eap=PEAP
identity=”username”
password=”password”
phase1=”peapver=0″
phase2=”auth=MSCHAPV2″
eapol_flags=3
}

There is also a handy guide to setting the connection up within windows and *nix etc here: http://www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/nsd/access/central-wpa.html
detailed WinXP instructions here: http://www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/nsd/access/wpaXP.html
(not sure if everyone can access those outside my subnet, so tell me otherwise is so i'll host it.)

My setting on my phone are as such:

Code:
[I]I've copied the Edinburgh certificate to my phone and installed it[/I]
[B]Connection name:[/B] wpa-central
[B]Data bearer:[/B] Wireless LAN
[B]WLAN netw. name:[/B] wpa-central
[B]Network status:[/B] Public
[B]WLAN netw. mode:[/B] Infrastructure
[B]WLAN security mode:[/B] 802.1x
Select WLAN security sett.
[B]WPA mode:[/B] EAP
[I]Select EAP plug-in settings
Highlight EAP-PEAP and press Options (soft key) -> Enable
Raise the priority of EAP-PEAP via Options (soft key) -> Raise priority until it is in position #1[/I][I]
Uncheck everything else by pressing Options (soft key) -> Disable
Go back to EAP-PEAP then press Options (soft key) -> Configure[/I]
[B]General tab: [/B]
[B]User certificate:[/B] (not defined)
[B]CA certificate: [/B]The U of E Cert. CA
[B]User name in use:[/B] User-configured - [I](here i've also tried "from certificate")[/I]
[B]User name: [/B]My UoE username sxxxxxx
[B]Real in use:[/B] User configured - [I](here i've also tried "from certificate")[/I]
[B]Realm:[/B] ed.ac.uk
[B]Allow PEAPv0:[/B] Yes
[B]Allow PEAPv1:[/B] No
[B]Allow PEAPv2:[/B] No
[B]EAP tab: [/B][I]
As before, select EAP-MSCHAPv2 and move it to the #1 position via Options (soft key) -> Raise priority and unselect everything else via Options (soft key) -> Disable.
Select EAP-MSCHAPv2 then press Options (soft key) -> Configure[/I]
[B]User name:[/B] ed.ac.uk\sxxxxxx
[B]Prompt password:[/B] No
[B]Password:[/B] *my password*

After all that, my phone still refuses to connect to the network, the only error it gives me it WPA Authentication Failed which isn't helping me!

If anyone can point me in the right dirrection i'd much appreciate it, cheers!
Sorry for the long information filled (overload) thread, but i thought i'd get everything on the table to begin with...

C'mon, somebody must be able to offer a helping hand or another forum they've come accross that may know more, i'm running out of ideas...

Just thought i'd let you know that i've tried connecting to my unis wireless network on my N80 without success and I get similar errors like WPA authentication failed and no gateway reply. It might be something to do with what firmware you've got installed.

In any case, Windows Mobile seems to have better compatibility.

Have a look at here for starters.

Cheers dude, i've already read/skimmed through most of that thread months ago, didn't turn much up at all, as sid has said he's having trouble, i'm not sure if its me doing something wrong...

Unlikely if you ask me,

I've sat down side by side with N80 and E60 on my unis network, and gone through every single menu setting on both phone,

the bottom line is that the E60 works while the N80 doesn't

Its all down to the firmware you have installed on your phone.
