Settings on E6600?

My E6600 is running along nicely with 333 fsb at the moment at 3.06 gig. All is well, the temps seem ok, but a couple of questions.

First, I've got all other settings, like ram timing, on auto? Is that ok, or should I do anything with them, bearing in mind my PC8500 ram that cpu-z says is 6400?

And secondly, I have the thing on that reduces the multiplier to 6 (from 9) at idle, is that a good thing?

Thanks :)

With a bit of tweaking you can get that E6600 to 3.4Ghz easily (and beyond). What cooler are you using? I have a cheapy Arctic Freezer 7 and it does the job well enough!

I use 378 FSB and a 9 Multi.

I turn all the Speedstep stuff off (reduces multi) and I do change most settings from auto to soemthing else, can't remember much without going into the BIOS and ahem I'm a bit lazy today. :P

I use about 1.35 volts if I remember though.

I'm assuming he means CPU voltage. If you've left that on auto too you'll probably want to try it on manual, it'll shave a few C off your temps. Speedstep is a matter of preference for most people, I've not seen any real harm on leaving it on so far. As far as RAM settings go I'd probably stick with manual mode on that too if it's being underclocked to 6400 speeds it probably means it's on the wrong multiplier. Just pick the multiplier that keeps it as close to 1066MHz as you can with your current FSB, providing you want to play it safe and don't want to OC the RAM too. It's safer to have the RAM slightly underclocked than overclocked if the multipliers allow this.

Yeah the cpu voltage is on auto. So raising it to 1.35v will lower the temperature? Ok I'll give that a go, thanks. Any other help/suggestions gratefully recieved :D
