The minimum permissible tread depth is 1.6mm across a continuous band three quarters of the way across the tyre.

The wear indicators (raised bumps in the main grooves) are normally 2mm.

im pretty sure the wear indicators are 1.6mm otherwise why have them?

2mm to warn you the tyre needs replacing soon. It is only the UK that has a 1.6mm law (1mm on lorries) and tyres are made for a global market.
