Anybody got this game? It is a very nice strategy game, very nice music and settings. I have taken some screenies:

The game is a bit like a pixar strategy, it's not the most hardcore game in the world; but it's a refreshing change.

I refuse to support any publisher with such DRM methods that are present in Settlers 7, I loved (and I mean loved) Settlers 1 + 2 but didn't feel that the others were as good. Settlers 7 I did try out and it was OK, but i'll never buy it.

And the high price that goes with it , i saw special deals on ubisoft and thought wow 9.99 i'll buy that turned out it was for the dlc

i tried this at the same time i tried anno 1404 and 1404 obliterates it in my opinion.

So you haven't got to far into it then? By all accounts the difficulty sky-rockets part way through the game without any lead up.

That, combined with the utterly bloody ridiculous DRM means I'll likely never play this game.

Same, except I won't even try 7.

I gave up trying them after the 4th (feeling of the game now destroyed), and the 6th ones just looked frankly gay from the covers.

crapolla.

screenies aren't jaw dropping or particularly interesting either to me.

I was a big fan of Settlers 1 to 4, after that I still bought em, but they weren't fun any more. Settlers 7 was the first of the series I didn't get because of the DRM but I went with Anno 1404 instead, and boy, am I glad I did!

As C64 writes above: Anno 1404 blows Settlers out of the water.

Another vote for 1404!

I refuse to play Settlers 7 due to the ridiculous drm.

The drm in 1404 was removed by a patch but readded witht he venice expansion. Does anyone know if the venice expansion is drm'd or if it is now drm free?

I love 1404 although I am not the best at it. I seem to start great but slowly trail off and slow down.

I was thinking of trying Settlers 7 but I have heard a good report or view on it minus the OP.

I have Anno 1404, was good to a point but I felt that it failed a bit for the following reasons:

1) The requirements became a bit complex over time for the next level of settlers
2) All the maps seemed to be very island based, which is fine, but would be nice to have some bigger bits of land about too.
3) The range on buildings meant you had to plan things a bit too carefully, would be better to say you needed a certain number of buildings per island instead of per area

I got it a few weeks ago.

Good game but pretty short lifespan IMO. Once you've played a few skirmish games it's pretty much rinse and repeat.

Haven't tried multi but can't really see that changing my opinion which is that Anno is better if you like this style of game.

Is Settlers 7 collectors edition worth £10 and can anyone tell me if the drm has been rmeoved? And also if you buy the retail disc can you activate/install it through steam?
