Settlers 7 - Official Thread

I bought settlers 7, i do regret it due to not playing enough to warrant the high price. It is a very fiddly game and I never fully got into it.

The DRM does bother me as I've never pirated a game and I seem to be punished for it. I was unable to play once due to their servers being down.

I do wonder how big the problem is in the game industry, I've never met anyone who pirates games, plenty of people copy films and music...
 
Can anyone tell me if they've rmeoved the drm yet?

Also, thinking of picking up the gold edition with all the dlc for 11 sheets, I take it it would activate on steam from there?

I am pretty sure the drm has been removed, don't know about steam though as mine is a cd. I know I used to have to put the key in when installing, but I put it on my kids PC and never had to thus my thinking it has been removed.
 
the drm is still in there as some of the game content is stored online. It probably won't ever get removed.

Apparently there is also a flickering graphical bug which was introduced in the last patch around June which broke the game for a lot of people, only way to fix it is to install quite old graphical drivers.
 
Settlers 7 really isn't that good. Mine is gathering dust. I can't actually remember why I didn't like it though!
 
I really enjoyed settlers 7 and played it for many hours but it's one of those games you have to play for hours at a time and unfortunately I just don't really have time for it now. But its certainly very playable compared to the recent rubbish C&C games. Shame the graphics arn't better as even my system easily played it on full settings
