My setup is

HTPC-------Yamaha A1030 receiver-----20m HDMI cable--------Arcam solo soundbar--- 4K DX902 TV

All gear can do 4k passthrough..... but I cant choose a resolution higher than 1080p on my TV

Taking the soundbar out the chain allows me to choose my desired 4k resolution running direct to the TV, but then I have to run optical to the sounbar and loose all the benifits of True HD sound etc from all my bluray rips (backups)

Any ideas of how to some how fix?

Please note my TV is in a different room than all my gear, hence the 20m HDMI cable

:)

Could it be that you're using the Yamaha and Arcam together for video and sound passthrough to the TV which is causing an issue?...

First thought would be the use of a 20m HDMI cable, but you'll proven that works. :-/

unless the tv is displaying a small window ie not full screen then I assume its upscaling,
or are you using the av to upscale to 4kand its just displaying 1080p as thats the source eg br?

no mention of 4k passthrough etc in the arcam solo manual

Has your TV not got ARC? Can't you connect direct from your receiver to the TV, then another HDMI in the TV's ARC to the soundbar?
