Setup Problem :(

Hello,

I recieved my E6700,MSI PowerUP mobo and 2GB G-skill ram today. Ive installed all my new parts and it boots up, i can get into my bios etc fine. But when i boot up with cd(windows) so i can format, it goes through all the procceses(detecting all your hardware etc) when its about to take me through to setup page where i can format it gives me blue screen error.

Ive tried changing my ram about putting them from slot 1+3 to 1+4 etc(the 5 ways it tells you in the manual) and still im getting the error, ive even tried doing it with just one stick of ram in slot1 and nothing else. Still and error :(

Any clues to what is up?

Ive changed over from a AMD system so this my first time doing an intel one.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Had same problem with a mates pc

2 things:

Make sure if you have a blue colourd IDE channel that NO HDD's are plugged into, but the cd drive you are installing windows from IS

and also the F6 thing and install any sata drivers you might need

CPU is running at 47degrees. Which is ok if im correct.

I dont have sata.

This is the error messege im getting:

STOP 0x0000007b (0xf78da63c,0x0000034,0x0000000,0x0000000)

It happens the exact same time when im in windows setup, runs through things at bottom saying press f6 to install sata etc then after all that it says Setup is starting windows then i get the error.

I have my IDE drives hooked up properly, the HD,s in the yellow and my cdrom in the blue.

Totally puzzled to what it can be as ive only ever had blue screens when it was to do with my ram.

Try booting from a win98 floppy disk and Format the primary hard drive, make sure you set it as active.

Check your hard drive jumpers are set correctly, master/slave, according to there possition on the ide cable.

would run memtest on RAM, i know its new. had 2-3 go that way when installing an OS, 2 out of the 3 it was the memory.

hmm always the simple things i forget. Tell me this.

The IDE cable for my harddrives,, first plug into mobo,, the middle plug for master and the end plug for slave? that correct. :D

I thought it was master on end, slave in middle. If you only have one drive then it still goes on end. Coloured connector (if it has one) goes into mobo.

edit: just read up on it, and order doesnt seem to matter unless you are running cable select. Coloured should be mobo end though.

Richie.

Ive messing about with it and im possitive its something to do with the IDE setup.

I switeched my IDE plugs arround, HD's going into other one and CDrom going into the other. It dosent detect my HD,s on the initial start up page but detects them in the PCIE to SATAII raid controller showing that one is 120gb and one is 80gb which is correct. So they are getting detected but not showing up in initial page. And its weird they are showing in that sata page as they are not.

Anyways i tried to run my windows setup just to see if i still get an error and what you know it takes me through with no error but in installation of windows it says we have not detected any harddrives to install windows xp on. :/

So if i switch them back to there original IDE slots all is deteceted but get that error messege in windows setup.

All very confusing to me :(

Tried it :/. Im noticing 2 boot screens you get with this mobo. The initial one that everyone gets listing your IDE master/slave and your Memory speeds etc. And one that says at top, PCIE to SATAII Raid Controller.

I notice that when setup as the manual says(connected in proper IDE slots) The main page detects my Harddrives but dosent detect my Cdrom. But the following screen comes up(PCIE to SATAII screen) and detectes my cdrom. And its vica versa if i swap arround my IDE slots.

Ive almost tried everything now going from ram to running on hardrive to even running my master drive as a slave. Im thinking about maybe formatting my HD on another computer and trying again but i dont feel i should have to do this :(.

Ive managed to get formatting my hardrive now :D.

I had to have my CDROM as master and My main Harddrive as slave both running into the same IDE slot lol.

God knows how my other harddrive will come into play with this.
