Hi,

I'm currently running this system :

ASUS A8NE Motherboard
AMD 64 3700+
ATI X1800XT
2 gb Ballistix
Fatality Sound Card
Maxtor 40gb IDE - Windows Install
Maxtor 250gb Diamond Max 10 - Everything else

My PC seems to take ages to boot or load applications, is this because i'm running windows on the old IDE Drive. If i swapped this for say a raptor will i see a huge performance boast?

Would help if you had your OS on a small partition on your newer and faster 250Gb Hd rather then the old 40Gb HD.

Thats what i did origional but i'm using a nforce 4 motherboard which has issues with my maxtor sata drive

mine takes ages too boot too, apps are fine though. Brothers got the same mobo and he has boot up issues too.
Think its just the mobo, which sucks...

Does the partition size really make that much difference - I have never really noticed that much to be honest - but certainly moving from an old IDE to a newer sata would greatly improve loading times
