I want to build a SFF pc so i can play a few games (cs,halo,civ4,doom3,cod2,hl2,wc3 + a few others) on one screen, and watch TV,dvd's,divx on a TV or another screen (whichever goes into budget) Since the 805 is cheap as hell, and it clocks well, aiming for 3.2 ghz from it isnt that much of a problem. its just the heat etc i supose. Any the budget is 600-700 pounds, and it needs 54mb/s wireless so i can get net upstairs aswell, already have a wireless capable router (my gf doesnt want the wires and holes in the wall - typical women) Anyway, tekys spec away plz.

You can get an X1800XT by choosing different RAM, but I'm not sure if the PSU in that case can handle it, hence the X850XT.

Will that board let me lower the multiplyer? Ive heard some 945's (lakeport) boards do allow this... i guess getting a LCD + a spec like that is out of the question? also i need a tvcard, and one that could do freeview would be nice.

*edit* ive got 2x512 DDR2 400modules sitting in front of me, but there ECC i think, (well they dont work with the other ram i had before i got 2x1gb +2x512 (already in the system) but there double sided and the other 4 sticks are single sided........

To be honest, I dont know as there are very few people with intels these days and feedback/user experience is very scarce on the forums.

I suspect they won't work as they're ECC.

haha really? i dought that :)

That board won't let you change the multiplier.

The Abit M-ATX board is better than the Asus one, it won't let you change the multi, but it's still better.

ok cool, but further reading and surfing leads me to belive that i dont have to change the multiplyer to get a good OC anyway, since it runs at 533FSB so i can just run the ram @ 1:1 DDR2 400 (or other ratios which ever is best) to obtain a decent overclock 20x200 = 4ghz (im sure that wont be reachable in a SFF but just as a guideline to what im thinking) and i speced this system, its not aswell performing but it would be FINE for what i want, if anyone would care to change things as there is still 200 in my budget.

(opted for the X1600xt - for SM3 its basicly the same performance as a X850 and this ones silent which would be nice for a SFF)

Anyone know of a "elite" cooler for socket 775 ?

What do you guys think? (still no cooler)

The X850XT doesn't have SM3 support (which most games don't need anyway) but it certainly blows the X1600 out of the water. The x1600 is really strangled with its 128bit memory interface.

You might want to get a black dvd drive with that case, as the centre piece is all black. Beige would look a bit silly :p

As for the cooler, it's going to be a tough one because of the limited space inside the cube case. Someone who uses that case might be able to help you, but I have no idea how much clearance there.

in this system; (not posting the url for the site - not sure if im allowed)

Motherboard DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
Processor A64 3000+ (Venice)
Memory 2 x 512 Mushkin Redline Dual Channel
HDD Seagate 7200.7 250 GB SATA
Graphics Card Sapphire X1600XT
Sound Card Audigy 2 ZS
Power Supply Unit OCZ 520W Modstream
Operating System Windows XP Professional SP2

The X1600XT score 5188 2005 3D Marks @ 1024x768
The X800XT Scores 5164 2005 3D Marks @ 1024x768

Considering my system will be very similar to this @ 3.4ghz overclock (which can be done considering people are getting 3.7GHZ + overclocks from the 805's) its not slow really is it ? :S and its silent :D

BTW theres no blowing allowed with x850's and x1600xt's :p :p :p

I REALLY don't see the fascination with this 805 processor. In benchmarks the 6xx series beats the 5xx series which beats the 8xx series.

Yes, you can overclock the living daylights out of it but a 4GHz 530 will still beat a 4GHz 805 into a cocked hat and both of those are easy overclocks with a decent cooler, but you are very limited for space for a proper cooler in an Aspire X-QPack case.

I would swap out the 805 for a 630 and use the extra headroom that your PC5300 RAM gives you.

As for a cooler - the only performance coolers that will fit that case are the Zalmans and the Swiftech's.

I would give that case a bodyswerve if I was you and go with a Silverstone Sugo + PSU or an Antec Aria.

The windows look great with nothing in it, but these cases tend to look very untidy once built up. The build quality is not that special, the fan is noisy and the PSU is very poor.

Dual core, under £100, only slightly slower than the 5xx series clock for clock (when using the same FSB), go to almost 4ghz on stock volts... I would rather have a 4ghz 805 over a 4ghz 530 any day, cheaper too.
