It is still being built im afraid :(
payment has been taken so hoping very soon now.
Cost me £360 with vat, shipping and the upgrade to 2gb ram

£360 for the box fully built and just needing disks and an OS is very good tbh. I was looking at getting an mini itx NAS case before for £150, and that was without cpu, memory, mobo and it was only 4 bays :)

Yes im quite happy with the price, more or less the same as the Qnap TS-409 but, you are getting a mcuh better spec and extra hdd slot so :)

The only bad thing is the build time, but its also nice as you know it hasn't been sat on a shelf for god knows how long and it is tested before it is shipped

Popular demand over the Christmas period has resulted in the following unforseen delay to your order.

We aim to ship your order on or before wk ending Friday 23rd January.

:( oh well

Just to let you know, I have now recieved my server from Tranquil and have been playing around with it over the weekend.
I have posted a mini review here http://www.parityservices.co.uk/tranquil/barebones2-review.html

Please go easy on my review skills, as i know they are not very good.

In short it is small, fairly quiet, easy to setup and use and when compared to products like the Qnap 409 the performance and options are far superior.

I got a IB-NAS4220
Upload circa 15mb/sec
Download circa 8mb/sec

My speeds doubled when I installed RAID onto the PC!
Anyway, very happy with it for network storage dead easy and just works! Cheap to :)

Ouch, £390 plus the server software AND hard drives?

Thanks for doing that review Bry. Looks like your very happy with your purchase then.

I ordered mine last week from Tranquil, they have taken the payment so hopefully it will ship this week sometime, cant wait for it now :)

Yea I do like it a lot. Just make sure if you are installing whs you have a usb keyboard/mouise and something which to boot the device and install it from

Interesting thread. I was just looking for the same type of thing... low power system, with RAID1, NAS box with the ability of installing a Windows Server or Home Server OS. I only need a couple disks, but not sure if going the Shuttle route is an expensive route to take.
