Mooching... in your house
out of interest, since a lot of you talk about using akuma and gouken etc you must have completed the game loads of times... what difficulty do you play on?

I completed it with ryu (3 rounds, medium) to unlock sakura, then completed it with ken only to be presented with a new video ( ), but I can't beat seth with Sakura, and its annoying having to turn off the ps3 knowing you'd have to do it all through again with that character to continue fighting seth... just seems a bit too hard

i will probably persevere and don't really want to stick it on easy as it feels like a cop out - what setting do you lot use? I can beat seth easily with Ryu cuz he's "my character" but I wouldn't have a chance with most other people...

Surprised you can't beat Seth with Sakura if Ryu is your main as shes pretty much the same - dragon, fireball, cyclone.

A trick for beating Seth with any character on any difficulty (especially if you don't know any decent combos with them) is to stand far enough away that he does either his fireball or Dhalsim-like crouching long-arms punch - and just jump in as he does it, hit him in the air and then sweep. Rinse and repeat, adding extra moves in before the sweep if you're absolutely confident they will combo (if you don't he'll squeeze in a dragon or SPD).

I cheated to unlock all the characters to start with and put it on easiest &1 round.
Now they're unlocked I play it on normal.

To unlock chars, easiest, 1 round, then just HK your way to victory, Seth is as easy as HK.sweep over and over again until he's dead.

I've done it on the hardest difficulty no continues with Cammy.

But I usually played it on Normal just for fun, but mostly online Vs real peeps.

Tbh i don't really bother playing single player. I set it to 1 round + easiest to unlock all the characters and then completed it on normal with no continues with Abel, finally i lariated my way to victory with fat-gief on hardest for the trophy. Now i just set it to arcade request + hardest and wait for a real person to join in.

play arcade mode on the hardest difficulty
unbelievably easy with sagat i can almost perfect most of the characters all the time
including seth

Of course, the AI is flawed. Once you learn the repetitive tricks to beat the AI it's easy.
not sure how many tricks there are, but sakura's charge-up-inky-looking-counter-thing nailed a lot of my opponents on medium ;)

so there's heavy kick, sweep... what else?

As others have said, if you are simply playing to unlock characters, set it to 1 round and easiest. Thats the quickest way of unlocking everyone. Once done you can play on hardest all day long with your favourite characters but most the fun is to be had online. :)

Unlocking characters is such a chore, to do it on medium would have scared me right off the game. The fun is to be had online :D

The AI HATES high priority moves on getup, so for example lariating the enemy as they getup will nearly always work, as will tornado throwing them with abel. To unlock characters you have to complete the game with specific characters iirc, there's loads of guides online but akuma and gouken are complicated and require a certain combination of perfects, first hits and ultra finishes.

i only ever play the AI to unlock stuff, its pretty pointless otherwise since it does nothing to teach you about the game.

the stories always suck (or can be a laugh), the AI is flawed... they are a combination of utterly broken & stupid. playing against other real people is the only way to play any beat em up.

if i play normally with my main char ken then i pretty much get destroyed by their broken reflexes and get hit with psychic FA's/ultras etc. on the other hand if i set out to beat the AI then i can do it on the hardest setting without looking at the screen. the AI gets more and more broken the harder you set it but if you find just one flaw then its over.

i only really did sp for the challenges and the legendary champion trophy but now i got that time to do mp again

playing sp for so long made me crap online :(

I always play on hardest :)

As some others have said tho, it sometimes makes online play worse :( like being too aggressive in my case :(

Pretty good for training new characters tho (I'm having fun learning Abel atm)
