So what do you guys think about this game, and the route its taking?

For those who dont know here are a few details.

* First cross-platform game, PC Vs 360
* Multiplayer only, no singleplayer story - though bots can be used in solo MP
* No ranked matches, but apparantly does use TrueSkill to help match making
* A mixture of guns + magic

The big arguement of course will be Mouse + Keyboard Vs Control Pad, the coders/testers apparantly are split between CS/CSS players and Halo2 players, none have really complained explaining that although accuracy is easier for the PC user - the button configs of the 360 Pad allows a better use of the Magic abilities, sort of balancing each other.

So other then just the 360 Vs PC arguement, how do you think this game will shape up? change the way online gaming will be?

P.S It's thought PC Vs 360 will require a Gold Account for the PC users also, but assumed PC Vs PC to be free - (though the existing Live Account will work for users on Windows as Windows will also use achievements/etc.. and merge with the 360 Profile)

Hi

I think the only decent x platform games will be things like WOW or maybe ofp something thats not insta kill ;) ive pld x platform before PC Q3 to DC Q3 and we ate them :$ tho saying that i think this is the way games should go :) i dont care what consoles my friends own but i should be allowed to play with them be it pc / xbox/ wii

If they charge for cross platform play then they will have very few users bothering, other than those that have a Live account already but wanted the game on PC.

Looks like for balancing that they have crippled the mouse look somewhat by slowing it down and such like, apparently it works quite well but that remains to be seen.

Could be very interesting but i am not sure about it really. i like the idea but dunno if the execution will be up to scratch.

I agree, any charge for PC players to play will result in them not bothering, and therefore the experiment failing.

The other big factor is price. If it's £40 on console vs £25 on PC, then a lot of people who own both platforms will get the PC version (assuming interest in the first place, and notwithstanding the charging thing).

It needs to be £30 on 360, and no pay to play on PC. THEN I can see it taking off, as from all accounts it's a great game. It just needs the chance to flourish without the suits ruining it as usual.

Looks like it will be FREE to play online versus 360 players using a Windows Live Silver Account. A Gold account will cost the same as a gold on the 360, though i don't know what extra features this will give over the Silver, being that you can play online on the silver.

Why shouldn't they charge for PC subscriptions??

WOW is pay to play and that has 8M followers. Besides if you have both platforms chances are you have a gold subscription for the 360 anyway.

I think this is a great idea and will work well and shold pave the way for other xplatform gaming.

They shouldn't charge because they don't offer anything you can't already get for free elsewhere. WoW is a different model entirely, WOW provide their own servers in a persistent world. Games For Windows Live as is, won't have persistent worlds. They probably won't even provide servers, though this could change for shadowrun.

I'm not complaining about charging now that i know it is free to play, just they are charging for other features which is fine by me.

I've actually been keeping my eye on this game for a while. But I have had the feeling that OcUK will not pick up on this game.

I really hope it turns out to be a great game and everyone both PC and console pick it up. It would rock if the mp was balanced and the console users pwned the pc players from time to time.

I have got a feeling Windows Live will be met with a muted reception in the PC gaming comunity. Is it just going to be another thing MS force upon the poor sods that use PC's?
Can you play this online without using Live for windows?? Sure i know it is free, but maybe people don't want to use it, and want to use xfire/gamespy etc?
As for the game the game might actually be quite enjoyable, but with no SP at all, i hope they don't charge full whack for it.

Old news, happened in Quake III on the dreamcast.

Ah but this is the first game that was designed from the ground up to be cross platform taking the strengths and weaknesses of each system into account. The others were just PC games or console games that were ported and happened to be on the same gaming networks.

So where as previous games there was one system that would dominate. This game aims to allow both systems a fair crack at it.
