Shall I or Shall I Not? Help needed!

What Ram would you recommend EasyRider?

I currently have Geil Value Ram. Would any other RAm work ok with it?

I was looking at:

Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x512MB) @ 70 quid inc VAT.

I would sell your currnet ram 2 x 512mb and get 2 x1gb so you can run 1 T and help your overclock.

70 is a lot for 1gb

sell the geil and get 2gb geil value instead.

2 x 1 gig geil value is a good reasonable choice. Overclocking your system isnt for the faint hearted , but once youve cracked it, saves you a lot of money. Base your choice on wether you want to overclock a system before you buy. Fast cards are no good in an unstable enviroment.

The ATi card beats the 7900GTX in terms of power requirements and noise, unless you of course go for the nicer silent X1900XTs.

you have to be the biggest fool to ever grace this forum. im not even going to bother saying whats wrong with your information. im just shocked to se that no one else has spotted your stupidity.

I rather that you literally spit your words out rather than grouping a few abusive terms i.e. "fool to ever grace these forums" as well as "stupid". I was only going by that the 7900GTX uses slightly less power than the X1900 cards. Isn't that true?

in your earlier post you stated 2 things:

1) you stated that the x1900xt has lower power consumption than the 7900gtx
2) you stated that the x1900xt is quieter than the 7900gtx.

in both of the above statements you are wrong. even a 3 year old knows that the x1900xt is noiser and consumes more power than the 7900gtx.

not even a fan boy would make the statement you have made in your earlier post.

i stand by my earlier post, you are a fool for posting without knowing the facts because you are providing mis information to the OP and all other thread viewers. normally i would let it slide but this is not a schoolboy error you have made, you have intentionally lied about that x1900xt's characteristics. im shocked you have not been contacted by a moderator and been warned about what you are doing.

Oh dear... please re-read my post and put it into context again and read the last clause.

If you read Kbc's post, you will realise that he's made an error in the way he's phrased it, no need to jump on him in such a rude way. Almost every post I see you make is derogatory or insulting to someone, seriously show some tact.

"Beats" was the wrong term to use since its insinuating the opposite of the truth but if you read the closing part of his post you can see what he's actually attempting to say.

I've added an edit to that post for Cyber-Mav's approval, though it still does not justify calling me "a fool", "stupid" or "a fan boy" - Still pretty much ticked off by those insults... as the other 200-300 odd viewers managed to grasp the understanding of what I meant.

now that the post has been edited it is now providing correct information. the previous comments made by me may seem harsh but its frustrating to see utter crap posted up by a user that is completly wrong and taking the ****.
since it was a sentence phrasing error i will let you off easy this time :D :p

Well if the OP is considering a 7900GT, he may as well buy the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 Graphics Card - superb value for money at just £139.95 +VAT for a card thats quicker at stock than the 7900GT & overclocks like crazy.

Read the thread mate,

with all due respect why talk him out?

we all know the 7900 GT is the card for him for all the reasons stated. ;)

The OP wants a PCIE mobo & graphics card. The X1800XT is PCIE. :)

Rereading the thread doesnt change the fact that i think that the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 graphics card is superb value for money at just £139.95 +VAT for a card thats quicker at stock than the 7900GT & overclocks like crazy.

The Connect3D X1800XT is bang per buck goodness. :)

we know the 7900 GT has more headroom for overclocking....and he has a power supply that will be ok for this clock,

x1800 however overclocked will stress his PSU more than needed and still be behind 7900 GT speeds into the bargain.

the clear choice for the OP is 7900 GT :)

also take into account the number of dodgey 7900 cards that are turning up. it was mostly the pre overclocked cards causing the problems but some people have been posting about problems with reference speed cards.

Not sure what it is about ATI but I really am not a fan. I much prefer NVIDIA. Also I really do not want to have to buy a new PSU :). For the sake of a few extra pennies I don't mind going for the 7900GT.
