Shall I upgrade to a i7 920 D0?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' oc'd to 4.2 GHz
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (8 GIG)
Enermax 600w noisetaker psu.
ATI 5870.

Was think of upgrading to this....
Is it worth it or shall I just hang fire for a bit longer.
I mainly use pc for gaming \ browsing the web and occasional photoshop etc.

With that overclock no way keep what you got.
i am in a simular situation but thinks its best to hold on untill my E8500 cant handle modern games which i think will be a while yet.
If you are desperate to upgrade conisder i5 which is great for gaming and much easier on the wallet.

Depends whether you want the power or not. I wouldn't do it just for gaming.

agree with the above keep what you got or if you like me cant help but upgrade all the time then look at either the i5 or if you fancy something differnet than the 920 have a look at the 860 brilliant for gaming got really good reviews some may beg to differ also you got the hyperthreading if needed.

The Corsair H50 is good, but no, I don't think you'll get much more out of your current cpu.

Personally i don't see any point with upgrading your current rig. Wait another year maybe, when your hardware is starting to go of of date?

i wouldnt bother for games wait 12 months and get something really special.

thing you have to ask yourself is, will you have the money spare that your going to spend now, in 12 months time again to update your rig.
thats why i never ask if i should upgrade because some one will alwasys tell you no in the past 6 months i have went from Pll 955 to i5 750 to i7 920

i was gonna sell off my e8500 and go for i7, but there really seems to be no point at the mo as i can handle everything im asking it too
if it aint broke dont fix it
