My brother wants a new computer and me being the nerd of the family i'll make him one. I've got 3 options how to do this:
- make him one from scratch
- sell him my PC and get myself a new one
- sell him parts of my PC , get other parts new, then replace my parts with new stuff
My system is as follows:
E6420 @2.8 with Noctua cooler
ASUS P5N-E
Geil 2GB PC6400
7800GTX
OCZ Modstream 450W
320GB WD
Antec SLK3700 case
LG DVD/RW drive
I was thinking of upgrading but I need to save money for travelling so I can't go overboard, especially as in about 6/7/8 months I wont be using the computer for about a year while I go travelling. But I'm just about to finish uni so will basically be chilling out for half a year or so I want to treat myself a bit.
I was thinking of maybe upgrading to 4GB and an 8800GT, just so I can play crysis and a couple of other new games. I know I wont be able to play it all on max but thats ok.
My brother has a budget of around £300 give or take, and I have about £150 to spend on my parts. What do you think is the best route to take?
I'm a bit out of touch on the hardware side but if I sold him all of my computer for £300 or so (is this a fair price?) and then add my 150 on top I'm thinking I would struggle to get something better than my current setup.
Advice?
Thanks
