I can just picture you out shopping, probably have some kind of scanner with you (that actually does nothing) but you proceed to wave it over foods that may or may not have secret government ingredients in them to wipe all this "valuable" knowledge from your head. No, you're right, it looks much more like a simple bit of airbrush over the eyes in a couple of frames of the video, a very very simple thing to do which would look exactly like that.
Shapeshifting/possesion...I really don't think so!!!

You'd spec the inside differently, of course, so you'd have a far higher level of vigour and comfort than your appearance implies. It's kind of like making a sleeper, but for a body rather than a car.
If your intention was to conceal the infiltration and covert rule, you might do this sort of thing in order to feed ridiculous "evidence" to particularly gullible True Believers who will eagerly spread the most ludicrous nonsense imaginable and thus thoroughly discredit the whole idea of it. It would work as a long-term method of concealment.
Of course, the aforementioned True Believers don't need any external help. They're more than capable of doing the whole thing themselves, including making or finding the "evidence". There's no evidence of any truth behind any of it.
