Share mac folder as if was windows folder

Thats what iv enabled, no joy, do i have to enable a password for that account ? or not ? its a sumvision mkv trying to access it not another windows folder.

Do I have to disable stealth mode on firewall?

hi, thread revival, it randomly started working a few days ago so iv just let it be, however today its (sumvision player) has started asking for net user ID and password, any ideas why all of a sudden it wants a log in ?, iv entered my pc name and password, no joy.

I've never been able to get file sharing between a Mac and a PC to work. I followed the guide on Apple's site but even that didn't work for me, obviously I must have done something wrong somewhere along the line but it just seems overly complex for something that should be simple.

Is it asking for a log in on the Mac, or the Windows PC? I think in the networking prefs somewhere you set a password. I'm trying to find the guide on the Apple site. :(

Well its a mac, there is no windows pc, its just the sumvision only 'see's' windows shared folders, basically in sumvision i see....

Network--> /workgroup--->/macbook prob45 (something similar to that)--->/videos------->

and then when i try to go into videos it asks for password

Macbook pro is set to share that folder, which works as it can see it, also has SMB sharing for windows pc's option ticked, no other options enabled.

That used to work fine, no longer works, weird?
