I have been browsing websites that offer Shared & Dedicated Server Solutions so you can host webpages, video chat rooms etc these machines look amazing and very complex but what i would like to know is what type of Broadband do they run on or is it even broadband, i have looked up ADSL & SDSL but surely these would not have upload and download capacity to run these rooms with out any lag considering the high volumes of customers using them all at the same time, so can someone tell me what exactly do they use to meet their needs.

no this isn't that i'm asking, I want to know what Internet Connection r they running ? Standard Broadband like ADSL & SDSL isn't enough so what do they use and who supplies it ? BT ?

They are mostly located in big datacentres such as Telehouse in London Docklands. All datacentres have massive phat pipes going into them... usually the OC range and have numerous transit providers which they use for their bandwidth etc.

You can expect a 100mbit ethernet connection as standard on a dedicated server. It's not worth bothering with providers offering less :).
