at home, you?
hi, im using windows 7 64bit, my internet connections comprise of, virgin modem, to a 5 port network hub, one outputs to my pc, one to my ps3 and i have one going downstairs to my wifi router for the others in the house, now, the internet works perfect, no complaints there, but i cannot access my router through the usual 192.168.2.1 from my pc, but wirelessly i can access and make any changes i want, usually this wouldnt bother me, but now i want to be able to share a hard drive as a directory as a file server which i used to be able to no problem, until since the addition of the network hub, the hub itself is an unmanaged one.

so the internet on the wired machine works okay? yet you cant access the settings on the router? do a start > run and double check your default gateway and type that address into the address bar.

hi, iv checked that, it has actually changed it to something other than the usual, but it still will not log into it

are both computers windows 7 based?

srry i miss-read what you inittially posted, think i'm getting tired guys so to that end i bid you all goodnight

yes, the other computer i was testing it with and trying to connect with was a win 7 machine and i tried the network sharing password route, that didnt work either, it seems to be down to the network hub, as if i remove it, and then move the router back to the same room as my modem it would work perfectly, when i shared the drive without the switch in place, i access the folder by typing \\name of pc , i have done this many many times before and its worked, this switch seems to be the problem, but i need the bloody thing lol other than the file sharing problem it works fine
