If i were to go with a cable ISP, and used the modem they supplied (with an ethernet and USB output) what would be the easiest way of sharing that connection to 5 PCs via ethernet? Would i need a 5 port router, or would a 5 port ethernet switch be the solution? I want all 5 PCs to be able to access the internet at the same time.

Thanks for any help, its much appreciated!

Got a D-Link DI-624 DSL/Cable Router I used for more than a-year on an NTL connection. It can't get simpler than connecting the cable modem to the routers WAN port, then connecting the router to your PC via Ethernet (has got 4-ports) or through wireless. The router picks up all the relevant settings/IP adds/etc & you’re instantly sharing the internet. The DI-624 also comes with a built-in wizard that can guide you.
