ive got logitech x540s and was wondering how to share the speakers between the three?
both the 360 and ps3 are connected to a monitor and i wanna connect them all up
do i need an extra cables or anything?

thanks

that system doesn't support 5.1 with ps3 or 360 so really you only get stereo sound so all you need to do is split the cable feed so you can have both plugged in theres adapters to do this.

Your better of saving up for a better system one which is a non pc unit £150+ can get you one.

I know you can with 2.1 as the xbox and ps3 come with adaptors. The ps3 multi avi one, and the xbox the component one, you use these with this (below), then a input selector, like this B-Tech Pro RCA Phono Socket 3 Way Stereo Input Selector to chose which audio you want, so ps3 xbox and pc all goto the input.

How the rear and center behave when still plugged into the PC I dont know, you might have to disconnect them which would be a pain. I assume the 5.1 simulation mode would stop the center / rear doing anything.

The only thing you would need to buy would be the selector, and another 3.5 mini jack to rca phono

Hard to say if its worth it, certainly wont be cheaper once you take speakers and sub into account. Something like the Onkyo TX-SR506 might be a good buy, but looking on avforums would be better imo.

The Z-5500 are (were) very popular and would do what you want.

thanks for that, posted a thread up there, see what happens

seems like the z-5500 are the best way to go without having to spend a ton
