cheapest option is a crossover cable costs about a fiver if that

use it to send internet access from the main machine connected to the modem onto the second machine

obviously the first machine must be turned on for the second machine to use the internet

Im looking for somthin about more advanced/safe if that makes sense?

Id recommend a modem/router, they can be had for anything from £30 to the cost of the sky. Basically, you connect both your PCs to the router, then your router will connect direct to your telephone line. The only difficult bit is settign up the connection, but even that isnt too difficult and i got it working with no previous router knowhow.

Not sure whether this image will eb of use, but i knocked this up.
