Sharing Speakers between XBox and PC..

Recently bought an xbox and after playing it on my tiny 15" for a day decided I'll make the upgrade to playing on my 19" TFT. From what I've read I take it I need the VGA HD cable?

Now for the tricky part, I want the speakers to be non dependent on my PC being turned on for sound to come through when playing my xbox. They are a 5.1 setup (creative itrigue 5600s) and wondered what would be the best way to go about connecting a 2nd system, in this case the xbox, to them?

dont think you can get 5.1 from the xbox then, i cant see either a coaxial or optical input on it
the only way i can see is using the phono > 3.5mm adapter which comes with it and plug that into the green socket on the back, but you may have to keep switching between pc and xbox

thats the phono > 3.5mm adaptor incase you were wondering

If you're going to do that just plug the 360 into your PCs line in. The PC needs to be on but you never have to swap cables.

No that's no good, you need line in. Only option for you is to either carry on doing it the way you're doing or to just plug the 360 into the back of the speakers taking out the pc cable and swapping it back and forth

PhatPish I've edited your two posts as that site isn't really looked upon nicely here. Just thought I'd let you know. Chuck them over to imageshack and you shouldn't have any problems.

yes thats another option but OP doesnt want the pc to be on

just thaught, maybe you could use a double adaptor on the green socket on the back of the speakers. that way you can have the pc and xbox plugged into that at the same time.
its a lot of adaptors n stuff but if it means no cable swapping it might be worth trying out

90% of the time they cause issues with impedance though, causing the sound to be quieter and distorted.

No, it comes with the official VGA cable.
No.

we're talking about a splitter, that doesn't come with the VGA cable, should be able to pick one up fairly cheap from any store like that.
Just to clarify the Red and White Phono to 3.5mm jack comes with the VGA cable. The 3.5mm jack splitter will cost about £2 and is bought separately.

Someone mind having a look at what I'm going to buy, don't want to end up with the wrong thing.

I'll email it over so I don't get in trouble for posting a competitors link.
