Shaving Rash ><

Used to happen to me too, until I switched to electric. Never looked back.

Guess it varies depending on the person, I used to get irritation when I used an electric shaver, that stopped ever since I went with a razor.

- Buy a decent Razor
- Use Warm/Hot water before shave
- Lather some shaving foam/soap
- Shave
- Rinse with cold water

mainly just repeating what's been said above really, always been fine for me.

I stopped having shaving rash when I switched from shaving gel/foams to shaving soap, I think it's partly because it takes that little longer to put on. Never going back to gel/foam now, been using the same shaving soap tub for over 18 months, only cost about £2!

Ok I will try some things out, it's rather low on the neck so I guess where it's where I didn't wash so thoroughly, it's only a little rash but it really stings when I look down.

I use a Gilette Fusion to shave my neck but I have a Babyliss iTrim for the rest of my face but I like a clean shave around the neck. Thanks for the help people.

I used to get this a fair bit. Now I just use electric. Don't think I'll ever probably use a razor again.

I get the same thing, did try electric but my stubble is too coarse for it to cut properly gone back to wet shave and shave every other day.

Unfortunately for me though the grain around my neck grows in different directions so really is a pain to do sometimes.

I dont know if this will work for you but you could give it a try. I wet-shave as well after a shower and like you I had the same rash problems.

So I stopped using shaving gel, foam etc. And Im cured now. As long as you shave immediately after a hot shower (dont towel your face leave the water on) the shave goes great and really quick as well due to heat etc.

Those dang gels full of their chemicals just making skin unhappy!

I used to get this pretty bad.

I tried some after shave balms with limited success - plus they are a little too pricey for my liking. Get yourself a tub of Sudocrem and apply it to the neck straight after shaving. I sometimes use it a day or two after shaving too.

Some of the redness and itching is caused by in-growing hairs so I keep on top of this by using a sterilised pin to tease the offending hairs out of the skin.

Few other things to try (some have been mentioned already):

- Clean the skin thoroughly
- Use a clean hot flannel to press against the skin for a few minutes before shaving
- Make sure your razor is bacteria free (I run hot kettle water over it)
- Think about using a standard one blade razor (not as close, but better for rashes)
- Use cold water to rinse afterwards
- Dab (rather than rub) yourself dry with a clean towel

Seems like a lot of work, but it's well worth it for me.
