Shazam 2 : Fury of the Gods (DC) - March 2023 (Zachary Levi).

Wouldnt surprise me, think a lot of folks are thinking what's the point in seeing a movie when the current iteration of the DCU is getting canned. I'll catch it when it comes to streaming in 6 odd weeks.
Unfortunately, it's pretty much this.

The moment they announced that the DC Universe was being reset (AGAIN), Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, as continuations of the DCEU were all going to be dead films as they would not continue into the new DCU. So viewers don't need to rush to see them as there's guaranteed nothing to follow after them. The Flash, given it's a Multiverse film that was expected to be a big reset button anyway, no one really cares, as that was going to be the "big reset" for the DC Universe anyway. So if people were going to go for The Flash movie, it had to be for other reasons, and all current talk suggests that it should be a must see movie, so that one should do OK. But Shazam and Aquaman? Yeah, expect poor numbers.

The Rock when he was doing BA. Was asked to appear in this and he strongly declined. This was exacerbated when they canned his movie follow up ideas and talks broke down. Shame really it would have worked imo.

I said in the film thread that it's forgettable fun. I enjoyed it, but I won't be able to recall much of it in a few weeks / months.

I think that if people are deciding not to watch this film because another 3 films won't come off the back of it, I'd question why they're watching films in the first place. Is that the sort of thinking that comic book film fans have in general?

Films have to be complete packages in their own right as well as part of a story arc if it they have to be viewed like that, but there's loads of films that I've seen in the past that I've enjoyed without thinking "well unless the second one is planned already, I'm not going".

Men In Black was a good film in its own right before the sequel was considered, and it drew in loads of people because it was a good fun story.

Just my 2p.

I probably would have gone to see it if it wasn't so close to the dnd movie release. Try not to go to the cinema too often. Will wait for digital.

Agreed on the comments about not watching it because there might not be more. Weird attitude.

I will wait for streaming for this one as well.

Whilst I agree that films should stand alone in their own right, these shared universe films are different.
I'd happily watch a DCEU or MCU movie knowing it would be the last outing for whichever character. But, seeing as all these characters and the whole universe will be reset, I just don't care as much anymore! And that decision was made after the final 3 movies finished filming, so it's even worse!

I will happily wait for streaming for Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 and then decide tentatively if I even care to watch the new reset movies. I'm gonna be a hypocrite and ignore everything I typed above and go to the cinema on release day when it comes to The Flash. Just because......Batman :)

It was ok, felt like a typical DC movie instead of the more fun feel of the first one,

the whole 'dream scene' with Wonder woman then not showing her face felt really weird to watch. Was surprised when she actually turned up at the end but that felt too

Not as good as the first one. A bit too much comedy and suspension of disbelief (even for a superhero movie!) for my tastes.

Maybe a 5-6/10.
I'll probably watch it once more, at some point in the future, for the female gods alone.

Better than the recent trash Marvel been churning out.

Just two more to go now before this is reset?

Comes to a point tho are they doing more damage than good?

Was it though?

It was about as good as Quantumania. A 5/10 movie IMO.

I'm sure the first one was actually funny? This wasn't.

Edit - I just looked back here, and gave the first Shazam 5/10 as well, so I guess it wasn't funny.
