Shell Optimax to change it's name

have done 140 miles today, almost half a tank, at the going rates thats the best part of £20. i wish we lived in a country with normal fuel prices

that isnt bad..... a train journy would cost more....

but then thats not a good thing either lol

Having only a 140 mile range on one tank means that I do have to plan ahead somewhat as to where the Shell stations are lol, arse.

I'd love to have that many miles to plan a fuel stop (usually only 120) :D

Well I've brimmed it full of optimax.

There is a difference, it doesn't make that tinny noise after every gear change anymore, it revs more freely and pulls a bit better and at 6K revs it doesn't make a funny noise.

I think cymatty fills his up with Optimax too.

I've noticed the revs are a lot smoother. Is the VTR ecu mapped for it?

Don't know, however it says in the handbook it runs at optimum performance with higher octane fuel.

It is only pennies more a week in fuel so IMO it is worth it for just the cleaning agents, even if there is no performance increase. :)

It's better than the tesco crap I put in it when I first got it.

I ran my petrol down so low yesterday I actually got 42.75 litres of Optimax in it lol.

Hmm I have never seen more than 35ltrs going in my tank, hmm must run it down more. :D

Its reccomeded for my bike, it has been proven to work in high performance cars/bikes and has cleaning proporties I thaught? no point in putting it in most cars though, will make no difference

Where did that come from then? its a UK bike isnt it? it might be made by the Japanese but its made for the European market and i am pretty sure the documentation will tell you to run on 95 minimum, the only people i know who run Optimax on bikes for any real reason are the racers, with timing changes and altered fuel profiles ;)

I have tried it on all of my bikes from Jap to Italian and its never made any difference, in fact the track bike that i picked up today (GSXR750) has been doing 53's round Brands Indy and never used anything other than 95 ;)

Dammit man, I have a uniform at work with Optimax written all over the polo shirt, that mean I'm gonna have to get a new uniform? That blows. First I've heard about this btw.

I'll swap, mine says "Here To Help" :D

Hey, to clear things up a little. V-Power as this new fuel will be known is not just a rebranding of Optimax.

The fuel is based on the Optimax formula, but is now 99RON, not 98. Also there is added detergents over the Optimax fuel, AND there is this other thing that the Ferrari F1 team uses in its fuel, Anti-Friction or something, I'll double check the leaflet at work tomorrow to make sure. We have all the new posters and pump stickers and all sorts to plaster all over the garage now, including the new V-Power T-shirts, however when we actually start stocking it is anybody's guess, gotta have the Optimax drained out the tank first.

Also its good now, I have a quiet day at work as we have no fuel, and no tankers coming either, due to the plant a Grangemouth being closed because of a chemical leak. The downside is that people still come into to garage running their mouth about we should have fuel, we're a filling station blah blah blah, not much I can do hen, can't magic up fuel out of thin air, so clear off and turn on the radio, read a paper or watch the tv and you will find out about why we ran out! :p
