Sherlock - Series 2 - BBC

A number of papers are saying his explanation for faking his own death was a bit weak, which if correct I'd agree with, but I'm not sure he wasn't just making that up to appease the Sherlock conspiracy theorist he was talking to.

I agree. I think it was definitely implied that it might not be the real explanation of what happened.

I wasn't particularly impressed by the story, and the scene in the restaurant felt as false as that 'tache (both of them!) but Sherlock is like pizza... Even bad Sherlock is good, simply because of the style and Cumberbatch's acting.

I think the trick is to see it as a comic strip brought to life rather than a believable, realistic tale. Then I can relax and just enjoy it for what it is.

Too similar to V for Vendetta I found. Even the same train (right down to the cars and stretch of track) was used and I was getting fed up with the mistakes made with the rest of the tube network. I'm surprised they didn't use the same bomb props too.

I like Sherlock a lot. So much I even plan on getting a kindle on the near future to read the original stories.

No matter what explanation he came up with, people wouldn't have been happy.

I think this is why they chose an excellent pathway, to 'get out' so they could say something and have us believe it wasn't true. The best mysteries remain unsolved. Its a great idea.

So Mycroft was the episodes writer for that one, not Moffat, good.

The only bit that confused me was why he was trying to break into that Serbian base where Mycroft picked him up. Was that ever explained?

Obviously style over substance, and a departure from being parallel retellings of the original stories. (Hound of Baskervilles was very well done in this regard btw).

Having two different fake explanations and a third plausible albeit unconfirmed explanation was a seriously clever way of copping out of providing a truly satisfying conclusion. It all left the main plot being criminally ignored to a large extent, but might be just aswell as it was V for Vendetta rehash.

Enjoyed it nontheless, but hopefully next episode will be better as now we're done with that fake death cobblers.

I heard a rumour that the true way he faked his death will be revealed in the final episode of the series.

Also am I the only one that didn't think derren Brown looked normal? I knew it was him by his voice and what he did but I thought it was a completely different actor?
