Sherlock

I'm a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories and I'm interested to see how the BBC will adapt this for a modern audience. It's set in the present day and I hope they do well with it. It's a 3 parter and its just started on BBC One.

Are you going to be watching?

Saw the advert for this yesterday, hadn't heard anything before that but really looking forward to it.
Will have to IPlayer it later this evening, but I hope it's as good as it looks.

Tried, I really did try, but can't see me watching any more, I just can't see why if you are making a Sherlock Holmes, why not just set it when its supposed to be set.. why modernise it?

Given up and watching young dumb and living off mum, which is proving rather amusing :)

Hmmm this seems very BBC to me.

Has the same kind of style as Robin Hood, Merlin, Dr Who etc.

The BBC need to start making programming with HBO again

Just turned it on, 10seconds then i changed channel.. don't even want to give it a chance as i know i will be disappointed.

Really liked it tbh. Similar to 'Lie to me' imo, just an English version, smug know-it-all main character etc.

I really thought i would hate it. London in the late 19th centuary in many ways defines the stories. That being said there were a few nice touches, although I know that was Mycroft staight away :)

I was dreading that they were going to make Holmes gay, although I think they are just playing upon Holmes disinterest in women.

I thoroughly enjoyed that. Didn't mess with the character of Sherlock Holmes and raised a few smiles. I also liked how the things Sherlock picked up were shown in a way which didn't get in the way while still making you think.

8/10 from me.

Yeah but Sherlock has charisma too.

Thought that was really good, will definitely watch again - had me laughing out loud on a couple of occasions. What was the solution to the end puzzle though? Was it the same as the one in the Princess Bride?

Oh yeah he's a much better character, in 'Lie to me' he gets hard work after a while. I think it's because they try and make it science-y and attempt to make it realistic, but in Sherlock they pretty much just suspended reality just to make him a much better character, and then tried to, very loosely, link it back to deduction.

I quite liked it, only watched it because my brother turned it on straight after top gear, but I think I will continue with it
