Sherlock

Best Sherlock Holmes ever imo. He truly lived the part and you could very easily even attribute his death to his obsession with the part.

Yeah absolutely. This new one could be so much better if they just focused on self contained plots without these terrible contrived arcs etc. They need to just wipe out all the bagginess and stick to one off episodes with crime related mysteries etc. It's also horribly self-referential with totally implausible characters.

I thought that Sherlock was great in the first two series. The rest has been self-indulgent, smug, rubbish.

This episode was possibly the worst so far for me.

IMO no one will ever come close to this man's portrayal. :(

I loved Brett, I also think that Rupert Everett was excellent. Personally, I think Basil Rathbone was the finest Sherlock.

I just didn't buy John's affair at all - just seemed entirely out of character - indeed it would have needed far more building up to seem even remotely plausible.

Have to agree, completely out of character for John. His entire character is about loyalty!

The Jonathan Creek special was much better :D

Agreed, the opening episode was arguably ill judged in places but needed to get us to an interesting point. This one was far better, probably off the back of the less palatable first one of season 4.

Thought it was great. Agree with the common consensus that last weeks episode was a little poorly paced and that this weeks made up for it.

Toby Jones was fantastic

Though I'm immeasurably frustrated that he won't be a permanent antagonist, not least because he did such a terrific job. IMO the shows been trying to find it's feet again ever since Moriarty died. Not having a consistent threat gives the show no real thread IMO.

I like the idea of the whole 'East Wind' thing finally coming to a head though. There's been rumours for ages of a possible sibling and what with the rumours of Hiddleston possibly playing the part, they did a great job of surprising us all.

I've got this to catch up on tonight, glad to hear that it's an improvement over episode 1.

Very good episode, enjoyed it indeed.

So mycroffs name on his desk, is that the sister, or adler, or Mary?

Naughty sister out killing people, with the miss me like moriarty, so does she harp back to that era, or just playing now as she can.

The Jonathan Creek special was much better :D

i hope you're joking - the xmas JC was one of the the most embarrassing things i've watched for years, i was shouting at the tv.

anyway, the latest episode of sherlock was much better, really liked it.
