Shimano 105 vs Campagnolo Veloce

It's very hard to say which is better. I'd say it's more to do with what you like. Have you ridden each of them? I'd try both to see what you prefer.

One thing to bear mind is that if you're going to do your own repairs, Campagnolo tools cost stupid money.

The sram is the same price as the 105. Can't decide between the two. Any advice?

Does it matter too much if you're asking for a comparison of different groupsets on the same (Dolan) bike?

Anyhow, from what I've heard it's pretty much down to preference when it comes to Shimano vs SRAM. I would imagine it isn't too different when you're looking at Campag too.

As already mentioned, Campag will be more expensive to look after. I'm also not convinced that it is substantially better than the model equivalents in SRAM/Shimano so with all that in mind going for 10 speed Campag over 11 speed SRAM/Shimano seems like a...bad choice (unless you absolutely love Campag).

Of the three, campagnolo is the one trading most heavily on name and looks. Mr campagnolo invented derailleur gears in 1642 or whenever, and the parts do look absolutely stunning... But then I hear tell that they don't always shift as cleanly and as said they're expensive to look after. Sram is the new boy, it's a bit exotic, it's generally the lighter of the three, it's fully user serviceable unlike shimano, where if the levers get borked you're boned. Shimano is everywhere, everyone knows it, it's a bit boring but it's highly effective. At the end of the day they will all pull a wire and let it go as necessary. At the price point for veloce/105/force they'll all be fine, it's just preference really.

It's all personal preference.

Best thing to do is go to a shop and take a look at how they shift. Some people dislike the brake lever moving on Shimano, others dislike double tap on SRAM and some dislike the thumb shifter on Campag.
