Shimano HG31 11-34T 8spd Mega-range cassette

So the large 34T gear is useful for uphill peddling I guess?
I've just looked up the cassette on https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gear-calc.html and I was wrong, second lowest gear is 26t, my old fatbike came with one and I hated that huge jump to the bailout climbing 34t sprocket. I replaced it with an 11-30 when replacin the original chain, which halved that final sprocket jump and still got me up my hardest hill, but then my chainrings were 24 & 38.

11-13-15-17-20-23-26-34

My not so great experience may well have been influenced by being a bit out of practice at bike maintenance at the time, I didn't realise the chain lube I was using was "dry" so would wash off in the rain and accelerate wear, I didn't tweak the rear derailleur limits or indexing.

What cassette have you currently got? What chainrings? Hilly area? Using your current easiest gear a lot in the hills?

An 11-32 is same price, not quite such an easiest gear, but sprocket jumps more equal (11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32) and the easiest three gears are better suited to hillier rides.
