It was the best thing to wake up to on sunday at uni. Yes it is a lot of rubbush but at least they are less pretentious on it and actually like each other on the show, they live together for 5 months instead of 8 weeks on BB.

And you get none of this diary room rubbish, and because of the desert island, you really see people for who they are. I mean who would expect that Lucy (boarding school blonde) to eat snails raw off the beach !
 
would have been better if they just let them onto the island like cast away. With no food and only the clothes they were in etc.

so when is it on again, sunday at 7pm?

whats everyone going on about the beach party, i thought only the first episode has been shown so far :confused:

You think? I had the misfortune of watching about 15 minutes yesterday when they introduced the characters and I thought they were all a bunch of idiots on a program designed only to further concrete this.

I would actually go as far as saying that it is worse than BB, particularly given this years racial slur on CBB, which has actually promoted a lot more intelligent debate than I could've ever thought possible.

I'll agree with that but at least the women are all pretty damn good looking. Then again, who could they ask to do the show? They kinda have to go for these types of people, I doubt anybody working class could afford to take 5 months off, and/or would probably lose their job too.

I'm not going to use this thread to debate BB, but it's not a good thing that it's sparked debate. All it's done is get a dying CBB the ratings it needs to keep it afloat. C4 must be laughing all the way to the bank.

So all it takes is one controversial incident to cause mass discussion to atone BB for it's years of shoddy television?

Shipwrecked is just light-hearted telly, it isn't trying to be a ratings-orientated money making machine, or 'sociology experiment'.

It's not good telly, but it is decidedly average, which is perfect for sunday morning viewing.

Next you'll tell me Beauty and the Geek is better as it made bimbos more intelligent and losers more confident. ;)

Shipwrecked has been going some time too. ;)

It's just annoying to see spoilt imbeciles on there, it just really grates.

Beauty & the Geek on the other hand I actually quite liked! :(

Guess it boils down to what you want out of a show.

For it's timeslot, the fact that I can be laying in bed with my gf and be allowed to oogle chicks in bikinis works for me ;)
 
Channel 4 has become embroiled in a new race row after complaints about racist comments on reality show Shipwrecked. A contestant made offensive remarks about black people, as well as gay and fat people.

Media watchdog Ofcom said it received 46 complaints about the programme, in which young people compete on two desert islands in the South Pacific.

Public schoolgirl Lucy Buchanan, 18, from York, praised slavery and said she would get a black person to do her "slave work".

go her, this is such rubbish, most people say things like that when larking around. You can't expect people to remember there on camera for 5months and not say what they normally would.

Isn't she the one who has been in boarding school for the past decade? Apparently her views changed after meeting people of colour. Sounds more a case of naive than racism to me.

She seems to be up for anything, certainly the most out going of the 5 along with Rhian. All the others have done nothing but sun bath and debate about the type of hut. She's eaten snails off rocks, delivered thongs and chat to a black guy one 2 one on the first beach party. Surely if she is really racist she would avoid him.

Different channel, different program. There is Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother. There is Shipwrecked but there isn't a Celebrity Shipwrecked is there?

Plus Shipwrecked doesn't have a host, just a narrator. Love Island has hosts.:p

Yeh go her eh??:rolleyes:, i mean what a stupid and utterly dumb thing to say and the excuse that you cant expect people to remember they are on camera??..come on they must know its being televised. Ignorance isnt an excuse as far as im concerned;).

Anyways her and her stupid views belong in the gutter along with Jade and her crew.
