Shocking garage experience

I'll try to keep this short. Car went in for a recon gearbox and new clutch. Garage picked it up and said it would be 3-4 days. Phoned me and said there were surcharges due to extent of damage. Came to an agreement on price including the cost of re-delivery. After numerous phone calls and complaints I finally get the car back 2.5 weeks later with the wrong gearbox oil in. I phoned and they said they would pay for new oil which I then put in the 'box. I then take the memory card out of my dash cam and find they have been fiddling with the dash cam, at the same time they have been ragging the crap out of it and driving around like complete retards with my new clutch and recon gearbox. This was the icing on the cake.

What do you think I should do? They haven't damaged the car but they have been crap from start to finish and have completely betrayed my trust driving my car around like they have. All the while shouting 'brap brap this car is wikkid cuz' and other moronic exchanges.

Should I provide the footage to the police?

Thanks.

If they have been driving like tools I would certainly be looking into reporting it. Take it this was on the 3? Not a garage in Farnborough was it? Name and shame? Just cos I still have a few friends up there and can make sure they avoid.

Reporting gives you the benefit that if the car has been snapped at all then you can say that you reported it before you get any tixkets

Name and shame, seriously. Report it also, at least ask for advice on how to proceed.

I'd absolutely destroy any garage that acted like that with my car.

This. Also, post the video if you don't intend to use it for legal purposes, thread needs more meat on the bone!

What is it with garages ragging the hell out of peoples cars?! My bog standard 1.4 Seat Ibiza went to a garage for a new timing belt / water pump, they picked it up and dropped it back to me in a courteous and timely manner, but my fuel had gone down loads in the space of the day and my mpg was sitting in the 20's (I can easily get 40 - 47mpg out of it, that's why I bought it) which tells tales of that poor little 1.4 engine being mistreated!

Although still unacceptable, you can sort of understand it if its a fast or sporty car, but not a standard 1.4!!! I'd be looking to name and shame if I were you mate.

Could've just been sat idling for hours.

Honda dealer round the corner from me have to park their extra cars in a car park about 200m down the road from them. Many a time I have seen them get a brand new car fresh off the transporter and rag the absolute hell out of it the 200m down the road to the dealer. Wheel spins, tyre smoke, red lining, 2 at a time racing out of the car park overtaking as they pull out onto the road etc etc.. And i don't mean type Rs, anything from Jazz's to CR-Vs

Take legal advice/CAB first before naming//shaming/interwebbing especially since it seems you have video evidence.

And for reasons such as this I've already got a valet map for my car ready :)

They may have damaged the car treating it like morons.
Speak to them looking to some form of compensation/refund.
Then if they deny it advise of dash cam proof ;)

Does your map limit maximum RPM as well as engine power..? Very good idea if so! Although I suspect some places will be so determined that they'll look for a way around it.

RPM, Power, top speed and possibly some other bits and bobs too.
Got my "holiday" tune too, simply ... engine wont start :p

No way around it unless they know the tune is there, and they have the software and cable to change the map. The software is VIN specific, so without my copy of the software that's tied to my VIN they can't do jack :)

Didn't think of that! I hope that was it, because everything else from the garage seemed good and I wanted to use them again. Although they did say they'd road test it after fitting the parts so that's when I suspect the car was ragged.

That's awesome.

What car is it?

Quite possible I would have thought, as part of the process whilst bleeding the cooling system after water pump replacement.
